BrisSEC 2026 brought together 650 members of the Queensland cyber security community under the theme The Race to Secure the Sunshine State.
The conference theme recognises that cyber security is a continuous contest. We are competing across people, process and technology to protect, detect and respond to threats that continue to evolve. Staying ahead requires the application of research, ongoing advancement and continuous improvement. The program featured a strong emphasis on research, practical application of skills and expertise, and the development of individuals and teams.
We would like to thank our presenters for their research, their thought leadership and the contribution they make to the community, the industry and to our ability to secure our state. The BrisSEC sessions covered research into software supply chain risk and defence strategies, along with insights into attacker behaviour. There where discussions on post-quantum cryptography and the practical application of privacy impact assessments.
Attendees heard from speakers building strategies for leading change and ensuring new controls are adopted effectively. Presenters shared perspectives on professionalising the cyber workforce and bringing greater clarity to career pathways.
