SydneySEC 2026 In Review

What a day at SydneySEC

Bringing together cyber security professionals, industry leaders, innovators, and practitioners from across the NSW, this year's SydneySEC delivered a powerful blend of insight, collaboration, and forward-thinking discussions on the future of security.

The theme,“AI-sa: Defending Tomorrow, Today,” challenged attendees to move beyond the hype of artificial intelligence and focus on the real-world opportunities, risks, and responsibilities that come with securing an AI-enabled future.

One of the standout moments of the day was the opening keynote from Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, whose session, Artificial Intelligence or Artificial Idiocy?, captivated the audience with his trademark humour and scientific curiosity. Dr Karl explored the rapid rise of AI, the growing challenges posed by hallucinations and deepfakes, and the critical importance of evidence-based thinking in an increasingly algorithm-driven world. His thought-provoking insights encouraged us all to look beyond the technology itself and consider the human factors that will ultimately shape its impact.

A huge thank you to our speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, and every attendee who contributed to making SydneySEC 2026 such a memorable and incrediable conference. Together, we've continued the conversation on how to defend tomorrow, today. We're excited to see where those conversations lead next.

Until next year! See you in 2027!
